Like so many others, my journey began in high school with wood shop and metal shop. Metal shop soon made way for my school's Machine Shop program that took me all the way through to graduation. While in the 10th grade, I snagged a part time job at a neighborhood machine shop after knocking on the door and almost begging the owner to take a chance and give me a job. But for reasons I don't quite remember, I didn't stay with machining after I graduated, but rather became a carpenter with my father and brother.
Some years later, after the need to make a part (that I couldn't buy), I wound up buying a used South Bend lathe. It was just like the kind I used in high school. I restored it and quickly bought and restored a second lathe. Next was a Bridgeport milling machine and a South Bend drill press. I then bought a surface grinder and just like that, I managed to put together a bonafide machine shop right in my basement!
It was then, in December 2015 that I was presented an opportunity to make some "extra cash" on the side. With a healthy dose of hope and not many expectations, Maple Lane Machine & Tool officially began its operations in the depths of my basement along side the storage bins of kids' toys, a bag of golf clubs collecting dust and other forgotten junk.
A true labor of love, grass roots endeavor, our company has continued to grow year after year. With our humble beginnings in the basement, to then moving above ground into a 2-car garage until we outgrew it to now, with our new 1,200 square foot facility located in rural north-eastern Pennsylvania.
Maple Lane Machine & Tool is a family owned business committed to delivering parts made to spec, on time with a focus on strong relationships. We have no overhead and can offer very competitive prices. If you need something made, reach out for a quote, we'd love to hear from you!
